The initiative is funded by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism and the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, and 85% co-funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

This Demonstration Centre, located in the Gran Canaria Technology Park at the Canary Islands Exhibition Centre (INFECAR) in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, enables companies involved in tourism to discover and implement information and communication technologies. CDTIC Innovación Turística has spaces in which ICT companies who are interested can show tourism companies, in a practical way, technology products and services aimed at improving their productivity and competitiveness.

It seeks to be a point where technological innovation and the needs of the tourism sector can meet and, for that purpose, brings together the supply of innovative solutions and the demand as identified, encouraging implementation of ICT tools and applications in businesses, and setting in motion actions to develop and improve the island, its population and tourists, a characteristic feature of an Intelligent Tourist Destination

Different kinds of hardware can be found in this area (touchscreens and touchscreen tables, augmented and virtual reality glasses, etc.) where the various solutions that ICT business offer to the tourism industry can be seen and analysed.   This area within the Centre is ideal for organising technology fairs and events that promote teamwork.
